It was fun to meet talented young artists and view the creative artwork produced across our region. Thanks to Glenn for the heads-up. To cover the film, new DVD screencaptures have been added alonside the full theatrical trailer and three new clips from the film.

We hope more students are inspired to submit their writing to the competition next year.

The travelling exhibition is funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Every year, five Gold Key winners are given an American Vision nomination.

As the program prepares for its 90th anniversary inthe Alliance is calling all alumni to reconnect and join in the celebration. Founded inthe Awards is the longest-running, most prestigious program of its kind, having fostered the creativity and talent of millions of students through recognition, exhibitions and publications.

The Awards is the largest program of its kind, and provides students across the country with opportunities for exhibition and publication of their work, as well as a series of celebratory events in New York City for national winners and their teachers. The judges selected 1, regional award recipients.

The other four nominees from the region that will compete for the national American Vision Medal include schools such as Seven Hills for an architecture piece, Paul Laurence Dunbar for a digital art, Sycamore for a photo, and Wyoming for a fashion design.

National Winners will also be invited to an award ceremony held in Carnegie Hall with famous guest speakers such as Meryl Streep and Usher.

The exhibition and accompanying public programs are co-sponsored by the Sheila C. A complete list of the national winners is available here. The Alliance partners with regional affiliates across the country to bring the program to local communities, and works with a network of more than 60 colleges and universities to increase the range of scholarship and award opportunities.

The International Quorum of Motion Picture Producers and photographers at Magnum Photos contributed their talents to encourage people to unite around the cause of freedom, human rights and dignity around the world. Our community is home to gifted artists and writers and the Scholastics Art and Writing Awards give them an opportunity to shine.

Each artwork was judged based on three core principles—originality, technical skills, and emergence of personal vision or voice.

We plan on having five narrators, from Robert Redford to Meryl Streep. We are proud to have 19 works of art and writing sent to New York where an esteemed panel of judges will select national winners. The teachers of national winners were also recognized with Awards. Works were judged on originality, technical skill, and the emergence of personal vision or voice.

Earlier this month, photo and art students had a field trip to the Art Academy to view their work in the regional scholastic exhibition.

In the Writing Competition, two Gold Keys were awarded as well as one silver key. In a recent interview with the Petaluma Patchdirector Mark Kitchell points out that the film is not quite ready for general release. Winners were invited to the School for Creative and Performing Arts to receive their certificates on February 9th.

Our students received 48 awards from the Regional Scholastics Competition. NOW will stop in four cities, ensuring that pieces created by these outstanding teens are accessible throughout the country.While CCD students submit many visual art pieces, many aren’t aware of the writing awards.

This year Sylvia Nica ’20, won a Silver Key award for her prose piece “Up in The Air”. Ruth Kramer ’18 won two Gold Keys awards for her poem, “Pink and Blue” and a short story entitled “Hair”.
